
Kelly Clarkson (in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson) was born April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. Clarkson is an American singer-songwriter and television personality. In 2002, she won her first American Idol talent contest. Clarkson lived at Burleson, Texas, a suburb in Fort Worth, where her vocal prowess was first recognized by her choir instructor at school when she was just a seventh-grade student. Clarkson quit high school in order to relocate in Los Angeles where she failed to get a job in the industry of entertainment. In 2002, after returning to Texas her name was announced as an contestant in the inaugural season of The Fox Broadcasting Corporation's American Idol, a singing show that allowed the audience to decide which singer they liked best. Clarkson's voice, charisma, and sense of humor instantly drew the attention by viewers. The prize she received as the winner was $1 million, as well as an agreement to record with RCA.
